Rewind:  January 1, 2026 – “The Princess Elizabeth”

The Warren County Historical Society extends best wishes for a healthy, peaceful New Year.  May 2025 be a banner year for all.

In our first Rewind of the new year, we are sharing a newspaper picture found in a scrapbook.  It is of the Princess Elizabeth of England.   The date of the photograph is unknown, but it had to be before February 6, 1952 when she became Queen Elizabeth, after the death of her father, George VI.

What is most interesting is how the dress the Princess was wearing is described – interesting for a black and white newspaper.

To refresh your memory, the Princess was born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary in 1926.  She died in 2022 at age 96.  She reigned as queen from February 6, 1952 until September 8, 2022, an amazing 70 years, 214 days, the longest of any British monarch.
