Rewind: April 15, 2026 – “Glens Falls Businesses – circa 1976”

We recently came across an interesting brochure that highlights the businesses in downtown Glens Falls.  Although there isn’t a date on it, we have a reliable source that remembers it was about the time of the American   Bi-Centennial, 1976.

With all the building in downtown, what businesses have been lost?  It will be interesting to see what new businesses will eventually locate downtown.

What surprised us more than anything is the number of and variety of businesses that are no longer downtown.

What follows is the map and the listing of businesses.  How many of the businesses are still there?  Which have moved out of downtown?  Thank goodness for the Queensbury Hotel.  Are there others still in business?  Fifty years can bring about a lot of changes!
