Cooper’s Cave

We have had several questions in the recent past about COOPER’S CAVE, the historically important spot that sits on the south bank of the Hudson River at the point where the bridge connects Glens Falls with South Glens Falls in Saratoga County.  Writer Helen Cackener provides all the details that one need to know in an article she wrote for the Glens Falls Today, the short-lived magazine from the mid 1980s that highlighted important people, places and things  from the area.  This particular article appeared in the 1985 issue.  Anyone interested in seeing the issues of the magazine that have recently surfaced may contact Stan Cianfarano at the Society’s office.

The original article is a page and a half long, but we decided to print the entire second page.  On it is an interesting advertisement about the Northeast Savings Bank that at one time had an office in the Aviation Mall.  With the closing of the Bon Ton store last spring and the recent closing of Sears, it would be an interesting look ath the stores that have come and gone in the Aviation Mall.  Does anyone remember the Northeast Savings office in the mall?

On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Warren County Historical Society,

we wish all our readers a safe, healthy, prosperous 2019!
