WARREN COUNTY 360:  Celebrating Place and People – Coming Summer 2019

Warren County 360 will be the centerpiece of our headquarters at 50 Gurney Lane, Queensbury as we transform into a museum.  Research and design for this exhibit has taken place over the past 12 – 18 months, and we are in the design phase currently. This innovative, permanent display will offer a fresh, new look at the history and heritage of Warren County through the lens of cultural geography.  The evolution of the County economy and society will be presented by examining how the natural resources of our region (water, lakes, mountains, trees, soil, ore) were the determinants of how we developed over the past several centuries. We are seeking individual and corporate sponsors to assist us in developing and mounting this display, which will allow us to offer new and contemporary interpretations of the complex and intriguing themes of our county’s history and evolution. Grants to fund Warren County 360 have been provided by the Champlain National Heritage Partnership, the Touba Family Foundation, Warren County Board of Supervisors, and the Town of Queensbury.

History In the Making

We offer an internship program for Warren County high school students, called “History in the Making.” Students work with us on real historical projects (like Warren County 360) while learning the skills of professional historians.  If you or someone you know may be interested, please contact us at 518-743-0734.

Warren County Voices:  The Jack Mannix Oral History Project

Named in honor of one of the Society’s most outstanding past presidents, Warren County Voices:  The Jack Mannix Oral History Project will seek volunteers to consent to be interviewed and videotaped about growing up and/or living in Warren County.  The intent of this ongoing program will be to document the rich and important stories of local residents and their recollections of life in this area.
